Cricut Explore Air™ 2 Mint machine

Product Review (submitted on December 10, 2016):
Cricut was kind enough to send me a machine to test and review.

First impression: The machine is compact and easy to find a space for. When I opened it I was pleased to find that there are two attachments, one for the cutting blade and another for other tools like a pen or scoring tool. Once I found a good place to set it I immediately hooked it up to my computer and got to work.

Getting started: Since this is my first cricut machine I was worried it would take me a bit to get used to the machine and software. Luckily the cricut design space has a tutorial for beginners (like myself) that helps ease you into the design space interface and setting up your materials. Making the first cut is always the most nerve-wrecking part!

After I got through the first tutorial and felt comfortable with the machine I got to work on some personal projects.

Design Space: The Cricut Design Space is easy to use and makes setting up your designs simple, as well as keeping everything in one location. I do find the interface a bit sluggish and clunky, and loading of assets can take a while depending on your internet connection.

Materials: Learning about your materials is just as important as learning your machine. I definitely recommend buying extra materials when designing your piece if you are a beginner like I am. There are also several resources online that can help you pick the best material for your project (as well as tips and tricks). I’ve been able to use iron-on, stick-on vinyl, window cling, and cardstock - all cricut branded materials so far - and I have not had any issues.

Final impression: The Cricut Explore Air 2 is a great, easy to use machine. There are so many opportunities for different projects using different materials!
